"Typecast" (September 28, 2009)
It's easy to judge a book by its cover. And, no one knows this better than Hollywood. Often movie and television productions cast actors into roles based upon their looks. If you are a tall and handsome man, then you would make an excellent knight, quarterback or superhero. If you are short, wear glasses and like to wear sweater vests, then you would be a good bookworm, professor or scientist. Sometimes actors look so perfect for a certain type of role lets say mafia tough guy that they cant get any other kinds of acting roles. These people are said to be typecast, into that role. Sadly, failure to escape typecasting has led many talented, good people into depression and destructive behavior like alcohol and drug abuse.
Actually, typecasting happens in more places than just Hollywood. In reality we typecast ourselves and each other all the time. Some people are convinced that they are not the right type of person to go to college, have a great job, or prosper financially. Some are told and believe that they need a boyfriend or to snort, smoke, drink or eat something to be fulfilled. And, yet some others are just convinced theyre ordinary and only good for watching TV.
God doesn't like typecasting because He fearfully and wonderfully made you for a prosperous, hopeful future (Psalm 139:14; Jeremiah 29:11). God looks on the inside of people and doesn't choose to fill a role based upon outward appearances (1 Samuel 16:7). For example, God chose a brave sharp-shooting farm boy with a sling-shot named David to be king, slay warlords and topple a military dictator (1 Samuel 15:26-29; 16:6-13; 17:41-51). God chose a middle-aged guy enraged by social injustice with a bad past and poor self-esteem named Moses to confront a world power and lead His chosen people (Exodus 2:11-12, 16-17; 3:10-13; 4:1-16). He groomed a wrongfully imprisoned slave named Joseph, who faithfully served to become the leader of a nation during a time of crisis (Genesis 39:10-23; 41:37-39). Lastly, He even picked a teenage girl, named Mary, from a blue collar family living in a sleepy nowhereville town to bear His son and the source of eternal life (Luke 1:26-33; John 5:24). So don't typecast yourself, or anyone else, because you never know what role God may have in store for you in the future.

Jason and Mindy have a heart for God's world. They have an intense desire to love people and to energize them into the future that Christ made available through the cross. They have been married for fourteen years and have created a beautiful life together of ministry. Their sons Isaak (he's 12) and Elijah (he's 8) are definitely their favorite people (besides each other!)
Jason is a fourth generation pastor and has served along side his parents, Dr. Larry and Sandra Linkous, for the past ten years at New Life Christian Fellowship in Titusville, FL.
Mindy is a professional artist . She loves to paint! She has amazing capacity to create.
